Important Notice Regarding Your Water/Sewer Bill
Fleis & VandenBrink Engineering was recently hired by the City to do a water/sewer rate analysis. The study brought us some new insight into recommendations from the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Based on their findings, the City Commission has determined to make some changes.
Minimums Eliminated
The biggest change to the fee schedule is that we will no longer be charging for minimum consumption. The current fee schedule calls for a minimum usage charge of 8,000 gallons of water and 12,000 gallons of sewer. We will be adjusting the fee schedule to charge the commodity rate only on those gallons of water that flow through the meter.
Ready to Serve (RTS) Charge
Water and Sewer Ready to Serve Charges still apply. We will be rolling the Sewer Debt portion of the bill into the Ready to Serve charge. The RTS charge will increase based on meter size.

Commodity
In order to cover the cost of service that we are incurring from the City of Grandville (sewer) and the City of Wyoming (water), it will be necessary for us to raise rates beginning July 1, 2009. The water commodity rate will remain at $2.00 per thousand gallons. The sewer commodity rate will be increasing from $3.05 per thousand gallons to $3.22.
Please contact your commissioner or the Treasurer’s Office if you should have any problems or questions regarding these changes on your next water/sewer bill.
