Hughes Park
Hughes Park serves as both a neighborhood park to the northwest area of the city and as a community park. Hughes Park offers a mix of activities such as, the active uses of the parks ball fields, playgrounds, disc golf course, beach volleyball court, basketball court, and horseshoe pits. Also, in recent years the playground equipment has become more centralized and two distinct playground areas were created, one for younger children and one for older children.
The park has a Commons Building that is available for rental. This building has tables that seat approximately 100 people, as well as a fireplace, refrigerator, microwave, counter, sink, and a three tiered grill located just outside the building door. There are numerous electrical outlets available (none outside the building). Additional tables scattered throughout the park may be used, but must be returned to their original location. Equipment for the basketball and volleyball courts, disc golf and horseshoe pits are located in the locked box in the Commons Building. The other park amenities, including basketball, playground equipment, ball diamonds and other grills are used on a first come first serve basis. Softball diamonds are used by the Hudsonville Community Education and Hudsonville Little League.
Also available for rental is a pavilion and 2 sections. Approximately 6 picnic tables are under the pavilion. Electricity is available upon request at the pavilion. The same rules apply to the these areas as with the Commons Building in regards to more picnic tables and amenities.
The facilities may be rented from May 1 to October 15, except for holidays. No applications will be accepted prior to January 1 for the year of reservation. For a reservation or more information call our City Clerk at 616-669-0200x412 or email jwiersum@hudsonville.org
