The Gary Byker Memorial Library is named after Senator Gary Byker, a local businessman who served as our State Senator from 1968 to 1979. The library serves the residents of the City of Hudsonville and Blendon Township. The library loans out books, magazines, music, movies and audio or large print books. An online catalog links the library to 41 other area libraries. Downloadable books are available as well as access to the Michigan Electronic Library (MEL) databases, and the statewide library lending system known as Melcat. Story times, reading clubs, movie or craft programs, lectures and author visits are offered throughout the year. The library provides free access to 12 public internet computers, as well as copy, fax or scanning services. A local history room is staffed on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. An active Friends group stocks a daily Used Book Sale table, as well as three large sales throughout the year.
