Farewell Open House for Children's Librarian Ms. Ellie on April 27
|Date:||April 16, 2017|
For all current and former story time kids and parents and friends:
Save the date for Miss Ellie’s retirement open house on Thursday, April 27, 6-8 pm.
We’ll have a big card for you to sign —as well as cake and punch!
Gifts? Not necessary, but she loves Barnes & Noble and Biggby Coffee!
With the hire of Katie Kirk, the new Children's Librarian, the library must also bid farewell to the previousChildren’s Librarian Ellie Mazor at the end of the month. After twenty years of service at the library, “Miss Ellie” is looking forward to retirement though she will miss the daily routine at the library. “ I have so enjoyed working here the past twenty years” said Mazor. “My director, Melissa Huisman, as well as the staff, the Friends of the Library and the patrons are all wonderful. I will miss my interaction with the children the most.” Mazor isn’t leaving story times behind though; she will begin volunteering as a storyteller at Presidential Estates in Hudsonville this summer as well as helping at DeVos Children’s Hospital doing story times and crafts.
The staff is happy to have Kirk on staff at the library although they will have to adjust to the absence of Mazor. “We will miss her a lot,” states Adult Service Librarian Kathleen Shaffer. “The excitement and energy she’s brought to our youth program puts a smile on everyone’s face!”
The library is planning a farewell party for Mazor on April 27th from 6-8pm at the library. The public is welcome to come sign her card, enjoy refreshments and say their good-byes to Miss Ellie.
