Barry Street Pathway Extention

Address:
2500 Barry Street
Hudsonville, MI 49426

This project addresses the Connected City objective, and features a new section of non-motorized pathway that was constructed as an extension of the Barry Street pathway to 22nd Avenue in Georgetown Township.

It was a collaborative effort between the City of Hudsonville, and Georgetown and Jamestown Charter Townships.

The new pathway connects to the existing 22nd Avenue pathway in Jamestown Charter Township and to existing pathway along Van Buren Street in Georgetown Charter Township.  This provides a connection to the Fred Meijer Kenowa Trail in Jamestown Charter Township, which is part of the regional trail system.  This connection enables people from Hudsonville to connect to the Grand Rapids and Holland pathway systems and beyond.  In the not too distant past this momentous accomplishment was seen as a long range vision that has come together fairly quickly.

This follows implementation strategy 7 of the Connect City action plan, which states to “connect the existing non-motorized network within the City and to the existing network in adjacent municipalities.”
